`Plan for Departure' With Alaska Airlines 2002-03 Permanent Fund Dividend Sale

SEATTLE, Sep 25, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- It's time to "Plan For Departure" as Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK) announces its Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) fare sale to the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico.

And new this year, PFD fares can be purchased by non-residents for travel to selected destinations served in the state of Alaska.

These special fares are available for immediate purchase and do not require a PFD batch card or check stub. Plus, there's no limit to the number of tickets purchased, so customers can spend some, all or more than the amount of their individual PFD check.

Nome, Kotzebue, and Barrow. ** Travel must originate from Dillingham,
Dutch Harbor, and King Salmon. No travel to/from Prudhoe Bay.
Great fares are available for in-state travel to Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau at 35 percent off the everyday lowest excursion fare. Special PFD fares are also available to other destinations including Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Honolulu, Houston, and Philadelphia via connections with airline partners, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Northwest Airlines.

Fares require a 14-day advance purchase and a Friday or Saturday night stay. Tickets must be purchased by November 6 and travel completed by Sept. 7, 2003. A maximum stay of 90 days is allowed. Seats are limited for these special fares and may not be available on all flights or on all days. Fares may not be combined with any other discount.

Tickets are nonrefundable but may be changed one time at no charge and any applicable changes in fare, provided the change is made prior to outbound travel. Additional changes can be made for a $50 change fee, plus any applicable changes in fare.

Sample fares do not include passenger facility charges of up to $18, the federal segment tax of $3 per takeoff and landing your itinerary, or September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement (up to $10). For Canada, Canadian airport improvement fees, which vary by airport, and U.S. immigration fee of $6 also apply. For Mexico, international departure taxes of approximately $28, U.S. transportation tax of $26 and Mexico visitors tax of approximately $20 also apply. Prices subject to change without notice.
