Horizon Air Scores Three Times in Conde Nast Traveler Magazine Reader Surveys

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 2002--Seattle-based Horizon Air has earned the distinction of being the only regional airline in the United States to rank on three of Conde Nast Traveler's recent readership surveys.

Horizon made the magazine's Readers' Choice Awards Top 10 list for domestic airlines, as reported in the just-published 2002 survey. Horizon finished seventh on the list this year, and Horizon's sister carrier, Alaska Airlines, placed third. Horizon was first named to the Readers' Choice list in 1997 and today remains the only regional airline ever named to it.

In the magazine's 2002 Business Travel Awards, business travelers surveyed named Horizon the second best domestic airline (in the coach-only category) and fifth best among all domestic airlines in value for cost. Horizon was the only regional airline appearing on these lists as well.

"When you consider that Horizon is a regional airline up here in the Pacific Northwest that carries a tiny percentage of the nation's air travelers, it's amazing that we were recognized in these prestigious national surveys of business and leisure travelers," said Jeff Pinneo, Horizon president and CEO. "The surveys show that our frontline employees and everyone supporting them behind the scenes are doing an outstanding job of giving customers an enjoyable and memorable travel experience at a fair price."

Service aboard Horizon's modern fleet of 59 jets and turboprops includes tasty snacks, Starbucks coffee, and Northwest wines and microbrews at no extra charge. Flights on Horizon are eligible for miles in the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan or in the program of one of several other partner airlines.

Founded 21 years ago, Horizon Air served nearly 5 million passengers last year. Horizon serves cities throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Colorado, and Arizona. Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK).
