SEATTLE, Jul 9, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- It's a sure bet-- fly now and fly for free later with Alaska Airlines' "Double Down to Vegas" offer.

To qualify, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members should register their Mileage Plan number at alaskaair.com by July 31 and prior to travel. Then, purchase a roundtrip ticket between Seattle and Las Vegas and fly by Aug. 31. Flight miles must be credited to the member's Mileage Plan account to qualify for the promotion. Mileage Plan members may also register by calling Alaska Airlines toll-free registration line at 866-604-3275 and entering promotion code 101543.

Not a Mileage Plan member? Enroll online at alaskaair.com and receive 500 bonus miles.

After the miles for Seattle-Las Vegas travel are credited to the Mileage Plan account, Mileage Plan will send a certificate valid for a free award ticket to Las Vegas or Reno for travel between Sept. 3 and Feb. 13.

Miles for the Seattle-Las Vegas travel must be credited to the member's Mileage Plan account to generate an award. The free award travel is in coach class between Seattle and Las Vegas, connecting travel is not included with the free Mileage Plan award. There is a limit of one free Mileage Plan award certificate per Mileage Plan member, and the passenger is responsible for applicable taxes and fees incurred with award travel. Free award travel is not valid in conjunction with any other promotion or award.

Award travel blackout dates of Nov. 22 through Dec. 2 and Dec. 20 through Jan. 5 apply. Award space is limited and may not be available on all flights or days especially on peak travel days. The free Mileage Plan award certificate will be mailed within ten days after the paid-ticket travel is completed and miles are recorded; delivery times will vary. All terms and conditions of the Mileage Plan program apply, and the promotion is subject to change without notice.

Alaska Airlines has the most nonstop flights between Seattle and Las Vegas of any carrier.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members have a total of ten airlines to choose from for mileage earning and award travel, including four major U.S. carriers-- more than any other frequent flyer program. Members have access to destinations throughout the world.

The nation's ninth largest carrier, Seattle-based Alaska Airlines celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. Alaska Airlines became the first North American carrier to sell tickets online in 1995, and in 1999 was the first carrier in the world to allow customers to check in for flights online via the Internet.
