Alaska, Horizon Launch Electronic Ticketing with United

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 2003--Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air customers now can purchase a single electronic ticket at alaskaair.com or horizonair.com for itineraries that include travel on United Airlines.

The change is the result of an interline electronic ticketing agreement between the three carriers. The agreement is the fourth of nearly 20 interline electronic ticketing agreements Alaska and Horizon plan to initiate this year with other airlines. They previously introduced agreements with American Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Continental.

Under the agreement, electronic tickets will also be issued automatically when an itinerary that includes travel on United is purchased at any of the carriers' ticket counters or through their telephone reservations centers.

The agreement allows customers who purchase electronic tickets directly from Alaska and Horizon that include travel on United to check in for the Alaska and Horizon segments of their itinerary online or at any Instant Travel Machine (ITM) self-check-in kiosk.

The nation's ninth largest carrier, Alaska Airlines was named 2003 Technology Leader of the Year by Air Transport World magazine. Alaska and its sister carrier, Horizon Air, together serve 85 cities in the Lower 48, Alaska, Canada and Mexico. For reservations go to www.alaskaair.com or call Alaska's toll-free reservations line at 1-800-ALASKAAIR (1-800-252-7522).
