Alaska to Begin Los Angeles-Guadalajara Service July 10 Passengers to Earn Double Miles

SEATTLE, Apr 11, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alaska Airlines announced today that it has received government approval to begin daily non-stop service on July 10 between Los Angeles and Guadalajara, Mexico's second-largest city.

The flight, which will be operated with a 138-seat Boeing 737-400, will also provide same-plane service between Seattle and Guadalajara.

To celebrate, Alaska is doubling the number of miles members of the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan can earn on the route for travel completed by August 31.

Initially, Flight 240 is scheduled to depart Seattle at 8:42 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 11:14 p.m. It continues on from Los Angeles at 12:30 a.m., arriving in Guadalajara at 5:43 a.m. Northbound flight 241 will depart Guadalajara at 7:15 a.m., arriving in Los Angles at 8:29 a.m. It departs Los Angeles at 10:25 a.m. and arrives in Seattle at 12:58 p.m.

In September, Alaska plans to change southbound Flight 240 to a morning departure and northbound Flight 241 to an evening departure.

Alaska currently has a total of 19 daily departures to six Mexico destinations: Los Cabos; Mazatlan; Puerto Vallarta; Manzanillo; Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo; and Cancun.

On itineraries with connecting flights, double miles are only available on Flight 240, originating in Seattle or Los Angeles and ending in Guadalajara, or on Flight 241, originating in Guadalajara and terminating in either Los Angeles or Seattle. Miles must be credited to a Mileage Plan account, and all terms and conditions of the Mileage Plan program apply. This offer is subject to change without notice.
