Alaska Airlines Plans LAX -- Reno, Anchorage -- Vancouver Nonstops

SEATTLE, Mar 3, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alaska Airlines announced today that it will initiate daily non-stop service between Los Angeles and Reno and between Anchorage and Vancouver.

The new routes are slated to begin June 8 -- the same day Alaska adds a second non-stop flight between Seattle and New York/Newark.

Los Angeles -- Reno will be served with two daily roundtrip flights, Anchorage -- Vancouver with one daily roundtrip.

"The new routes are logical additions to Alaska's core markets," said Don Garvett, Alaska's vice president of planning. "They are not only popular destinations, but passengers are able to connect with other flights throughout the Alaska/Horizon system."

Scheduled flight times from Los Angeles to Reno are: Alaska Flight 503 -- Departs Los Angeles 8:16 a.m. Arrives Reno 9:31 a.m. Alaska Flight 519 -- Departs Los Angeles 7:56 p.m. Arrives Reno 9:11 p.m. Scheduled flight times from Reno to Los Angeles are: Alaska Flight 500 -- Departs Reno 8:00 a.m. Arrives Los Angeles 9:25 a.m. Alaska Flight 526 -- Departs Reno 10:06 a.m. Arrives Los Angeles 11:06 a.m. Scheduled flight time from Anchorage to Vancouver is: Alaska Flight 102 -- Departs Anchorage 1:01 p.m. Arrives Vancouver 5:19 p.m. Scheduled flight time from Vancouver to Anchorage is: Alaska Flight 105 -- Departs Vancouver 1:10 p.m. Arrives Anchorage 3:34 p.m.

The second Seattle to Newark flight operates as a redeye, complementing the existing morning flight. The westbound flight is scheduled for morning, opposite the existing evening flight.

The Anchorage -- Vancouver flights and the second Seattle -- Newark flight will operate on a seasonal basis through early September.

Alaska also recently announced non-stop service between Seattle and Orlando.
