Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air Announce Electronic Ticketing Agreement with Hawaiian Airlines

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 2003--Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air customers can now purchase a single electronic ticket for itineraries that include travel on Hawaiian Airlines. The change is the result of an interline electronic ticketing agreement between the three carriers. Previously, e-ticketed customers were required to convert to a paper ticket when transferring between carriers.

The agreement is the sixth of many interline electronic ticketing agreements Alaska and Horizon plan to initiate this year with other airlines. Alaska previously introduced agreements with American Airlines, United Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Delta and Continental.

Under the agreement, Alaska and Horizon customers, who purchase electronic tickets that include travel on Hawaiian, can check in for their Alaska and Horizon flights at any Instant Travel Machine (ITM) self-check-in kiosk.

Electronic tickets also will be issued automatically when an itinerary that includes travel on Hawaiian is purchased at any of the carriers' ticket counters or through their telephone reservations centers.

The nation's ninth largest carrier, Alaska Airlines was named 2003 Technology Leader of the Year by Air Transport World magazine. Alaska's sister carrier, Horizon Air, is the nation's eighth largest regional airline. Together, Alaska and Horizon serve 85 cities in the Lower 48, Alaska, Canada and Mexico. For reservations go to www.alaskaair.com or call Alaska's toll-free reservations line at 1-800-ALASKAAIR (1-800-252-7522).
